Welcome to 60 Second Emergency Medicine, where we present news and short reviews of emergency medicine topics using quizzes, medical images, videos and discussion in the spirit of FOAM (Free Open Access Medical Education). The 60 SecondEM site is the compilation of my previous, but similar EM sites: QuizEM, the EMPA site, the PACorner, and the EMPA Blog site.
I am a Physician Assistant specializing in emergency medicine. I am a former Paramedic and a graduate of the Physician Assistant program at the University of New England (UNE), have earned my CAQ in Emergency Medicine and have almost 20 years of clinical experience as an Emergency Medicine PA. In addition to the educational websites, I was the editor for the New England Journal of Medicine’s Updates in Clinical Medicine as well as an editor and contributor for Medscape’s Critical Images Slideshows. My passion for teaching began as a Paramedic and an ACLS and PALS instructor, and then a clinical preceptor for both the UNE and Tufts PA students. I am most passionate about airway management, critical care emergency medicine and Free Open Access Medical Education. I care for patients of all ages with all conditions in the Emergency Department, working in both the Acute and Urgent Care settings. I have no financial disclosures to make.
